Breda is the chairperson of the Irish Water Safety Council, which she joined in 1986. She is an active Instructor, Examiner and Risk Assessor. She is an International Surf Lifesaving referee and an ILSE Risk Assessor Tutor. Breda previously served as Chairperson of Irish Water Safety’s Lifesaving Commission. Breda has been involved in teaching and training children, young adults and adults to swim for nearly two decades in Kilkenny.
A native of Wexford town Liam O'Connell has been involved in Swimming for most of his life. He began swimming competetively with Wexford Swimming club in his youth, before moving on to teaching and coaching. He has been with Kilkenny Swimming Club since 2005. He has an honours degree in sports & exercise science from the University of Gloucestershire in the UK. He has worked as an instructor at the Garda College in Templemore for ten years and has managed teams competing internationally at world and european police championships.
Head coach of Kilkenny Swim Team. John's swimmers have achieved over 170 gold medals at National level with 35 gold medals at national competitions in 2012 alone. His swimmers have broken seven Irish records in 2012, while others have gone on to complete in all distance Triathlons with strong swimming performances. John has competed at international level swimming and has completed in triathlon up to and including Ironman.
